Swiss Jungburgerfeier Vancouver

Swiss Jungburgerfeier Vancouver

On Sunday, June the 18th, I attended a formal gathering of young adults turning 18 with Swiss ties. The event was hosted by the very generous Consul General of Switzerland, Pascal Bornoz. It was an early morning start as the event started at 11:00 am in Vancouver and my hometown of Kamloops is a 3-4 hour drive. Waking up at 6:30 in the am wasn’t too fun, but I got to sleep on the drive there which was nice. When we arrived I was definitely a little nervous to meet other random teens my age, but after the first little bit I felt comfortable with everyone and we all bonded well. We then sat down to listen to some speeches from different Swiss representatives. I learned lots of cool and interesting facts about a very cultural country. We then wrote a little quiz based on the facts we had just learned. The young adults that aced the quiz got put into a draw for a random prize. I was completely unaware that I even passed the quiz but when the Consulate picked my name for the first place prize I was overwhelmed! I couldn’t believe it when he told me that I won a flight for two people to Switzerland with Edelweiss Air! I am really looking forward to this trip and unique experience; I’ll probably go next spring. I’m very thankful to Consul General Bornoz for organizing the Jungburgerfeier event in Vancouver. I am also very thankful to Mr. Wouter Muurmans, representing Edelweiss Air, for offering the prize! Overall it was an amazing experience that ended with a cherry on the top for me! 🙂
